What Does HVAC imply?

HVAC can be elaborated as Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning. These three main functions of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning are basically interrelated. Moreover, HVAC basically depicts the entire cooling and heating system of an air conditioner, including the air filters, humidification controls, duct work, etc.

This is a very common question for those who are not tech savvy with central air conditioning unit. So what gives? How do I know if I need a new one?

Well there are a number of warning signs that you will generally notice that your AC is about to hit the pooper!

Your AC is in constant need of AC repair – Clearly one of the most obvious signs of a failing AC unit. When you’ve had that tech you know personally by name and have practically fed dinner, fixing all your ac repairs you know that your AC unit is more than likely a piece of junk. And sure you can keep patching up that ol’ AC unit every time it breaks down but why keep throwing you money away?

Temperature Inconsistency – If you home or business is experiencing fluctuations in temperature that’s another sign of a bad AC unit. If your room are having trouble staying cool in the summer or warm in the winter we know that either you have an HVAC malfunction, poor insulation or issues with your central air ducts.

Outdoor Air Conditioner – This is generally the most common reason people have issues with their AC units. The system is usually exhausted, parts are expired and worn out and it has been running for many years. Most Air Conditioner units, especially AC units in Gilbert Arizona and the Valley last around 10 years, assuming the owner is routinely and properly taking care of his AC units.

Replacing an aging HVAC system is a sure way to lower you repair cost, have energy savings, and generate more cooling or heating power. In most cases the newer AC systems can pay for itself when it comes to the amount you’ll save in energy and repair cost savings.

For doing so, you need to locate the label indicating the warranty details, such as the manufacturer date, on the equipment’s outer surface. If the equipment has been manufactured less than five years ago, it may have a warranty. However, terms and conditions related to warranty may be changed by the manufacturer as well as the installation company.

Domestic air conditioners that are not constantly used and mainly used for cooling purposes only often require one maintenance service per year. However, air conditioners that are installed in offices need to be maintained twice every year.

Air conditioners that are used in the server rooms are recommended to go for three service visits per year to maintain their optimum level of performance. Air conditioners installed in areas where the pollution level is extremely high, such as hairdressers, workshops, etc require additional service visits.

No, this is not recommended as doing so can do more harm than any good. It is a myth that air conditioners get dirty when they are not in use. However, people often forget to uncover the air conditioners during spring season. In additions, covers can also trap unnecessary moisture that can cause much damage to the workings of the air conditioners. Moreover, rodents are known to make their homes in covered spaces during winters.

SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, which is basically used for determining the air conditioner’s efficiency on a scale of 10 to 20. Thus, higher is the SEER rating, more is your saving on energy consumption.

Good and well maintained air conditioner can last up to 15 years. However, most of the air conditioners tend to develop problems after 7 to 10 years if they are not serviced from time to time. Thus, if you want your air conditioner to last long, it is advisable to go for monthly filter checking and replacement if needed. In addition, try to keep the outdoor unit clean and free of any kind of debris and make sure to keep the air conditioner shaded during the hottest days of season.

The answer to this question depends upon the number of people and pets loving in your house as well the frequency of the air conditioner running during the day. However, it is advisable to check the filters once a month.

If you find the filters to be plugged or discolored, go for filter replacement. This situation can occur after 30 to 90 days of installation. However, during summers, when the air conditioners are frequently used, you may need to go for filter cleaning after every 2 week.

Before calling the technicians, make sure that the furnace filter is not at all clogged. Moreover, also check whether the air conditioner is on and is set to a temperature that can cause it to cycle. In addition, you need to check whether the thermostat is operational or not.

If an air conditioner has frozen, it means that it is suffering from a restricted air flow. If you notice a problem, switch off the unit and go for a filter check. If it is working fine, it may be a possibility that you have blocked the air return accidentally.

Maintenance of an air conditioner should be performed and handled only by certified engineers. The reason is that maintenance is not only a case of just getting your filters cleaned. The process requires specialist tools and equipment that can be used by certified technicians only.

Yes, you may replace your outdoor unit and can leave the indoor system intact. However, a mismatch can simply cost you more by leading to a reduction of your unit’s efficiency. Thus, it is always advisable to replace all the parts of the air conditioners at the same time.

Once the air conditioner crosses its 7th year, the repair costs are going to really pinch your pockets. An old air conditioner that needs frequent trips from the technicians for repairing work, shows major problems, does not cool properly, and leads to higher energy bills surely needs to be replaced.
